Crowdfunding Marketing & Communications Intern

3 month, Part-Time Internship, September 14 - December 14, 2015

Real Food Real Stories is building a tribe of engaged supporters for an empathetic food system that inspires action. We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, highly organized, and collaborative individual to help us grow that tribe through a successful crowdfunding campaign. This person will work closely with RFRS Director and Associate Director to support the campaign launching Oct.14-Nov.14. As a startup nonprofit, this work is unpaid and will mostly be remote, with weekly team meetings in downtown San Francisco. It is going to be a fun, fast-paced, community-oriented project, working with many food and ag partners. Below is a description of the position.

About Real Food Real Stories

Founded in July 2014, Real Food Real Stories gives voice to the rising food movement and cultivates an empathetic food system based on listening and action. We design powerful experiences where local changemakers in food are facilitated to connect with their purpose and share their story authentically with a curated audience over delicious meals. Through heart-oriented communication, changemakers tell their stories in a way that relates abstract, often overwhelming problems by making large, social, environmental and systemic issues personal. At RFRS we pair that connection with an offer of a tangible action to support the greater food movement. Participants are left educated, connected to a cause greater than themselves, and ready to change behavior through consumer choices, advocacy, volunteering, fundraising, and collaboration. Our ultimate goal is to facilitate the building of a healthier food system in a culture of empathy, one that ripples across the country and eventually world, amplifying and synergizing local food communities through listening and action for a healthy planet and population.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take part in crowdfunding copy and design

  • Implement social media & marketing strategy

  • Communicate with supporters on crowdfunding page, including replies to comments

  • Post updates throughout campaign

  • Provide general support with crowdfunding needs such as launch party on Oct.14th

  • Design wrap-up communications that continue the tribe’s engagement with RFRS

Intern Skills & Qualifications

  • Well-rounded design ability

  • Savvy with social media, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram

  • Excellent writer with clear, concise communication free of typos and grammar errors

  • Community-oriented and interested in relationship building

  • Well-organized and able to stay in healthy communication with the team

  • Knowledge of viral marketing preferred

  • Knowledge of sustainable food systems preferred
