STORIES FOR CURIOUS EATERS
For all of the things that divide us, food and story connect us.
This summer, in partnership with General Assembly SF, we're weaving together stories of empowerment. Each of our storytellers is empowering individuals and communities to dream, to act, and to thrive.
On July 11, we'll gather for bites, drinks + a story with Maria Garcia Brennan. In 2016, her daughters asked their father "Is mommy going to be sent back to Mexico?". This was the moment that inspired Maria to start a food brand to help bridge cultural and health divides. Meet Soñar, a Latina-owned organic food company on a mission to empower and nourish a nation of dreamers.
Join us to hear Maria's story! We promise you’ll leave nourished and inspired.

ABOUT OUR STORYTELLER - MARIA GARCIA BRENNAN
Maria immigrated to the US from Mexico with her family when she was only five years old – they came in pursuit of the “American Dream”, and she worked hard to achieve it. Maria was the first in her family to go to college, and she had a successful career and happy, healthy family. She was living the dream until one evening in November 2016, when her daughters who were then age seven and nine years old asked her husband a heart-breaking question, “Daddy, are they going to send Mommy back to Mexico?” This question spurred Maria and her husband to take action, and use their twenty plus years of Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience to launch an organic food brand that could bridge cultural and health divides. Their brand, Soñar!™ means “To Dream”, and they are on a mission to empower and nourish a nation of dreamers. Soñar! offers a nutrient-dense USDA Organic certified Grain-Free tortilla chip and supports the Latino Community Foundation with 1% of annual sales to help them advance their mission.
